Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing

Trauma can have a profound impact and affect the lives of those affected.

It can manifest itself in different ways in our daily lives, without us even being able to necessarily identify it or even have a concrete memory of it. It is not only a cause of psychological problems but it can also manifest itself through physical symptoms.

As an indication, trauma can manifest itself through:

  • Anxiety, sudden anxiety attacks, or anger.
  • We feel tense, on guard.
  • Obsessive disorders
  • Attention disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Certain behavioral disorders
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Shame
  • Self-esteem disorders
  • Certain digestive disorders
  • Depression
  • Pain
  • Psychosomatic disorders

Among the modalities that I can offer you, Somatic-Experiencing is a very effective somatic technique for working around trauma.

Somatic-Experiencing is a somatic approach, centred on the body “bottom-up”. Created by Dr. Peter Levine, this technique recognizes the importance of the body in resolving trauma. We support people in pain in an integrative vision, and in the regulation of their nervous system, with a view to resolving the trauma. I like to give the example of an onion that is peeled layer by layer, as each trauma is regulated; This is a progressive method that adapts to the needs of each person, through a variety of techniques. It is about helping and supporting the body to release and free itself from lived experiences, and to support the person to find their mental and emotional flow and to regulate themselves.

Somatic Experiencing has an undeniable place in the United States (where I trained) and in Anglo-Saxon countries, in the treatment of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, chronic pain and depression. It can also be useful during medical trauma (surgery for example) or accidents.

I use this technique in addition to other methods in which I am trained (such as “Parts work” or integrative psychosomatics), depending on the needs of the people I meet. Passionate about this support, I train on a daily basis and do not hesitate to travel to be sure to always be trained by experts in the field in order to offer you quality follow-up. I also benefit from regular work of consultation of my practice by my trainers and in-depth monitoring of myself. I practice and apply what I advise!
